To Demux or Not to Demux?

While I was out running this morning I was thinking about the issues I was having with my Sony camera being compatible and easy to use with my MacBook Pro when it comes to editing for video blogging.

Do I buy a new Nokia or take the tip that Steve Garfield has kindly given to me to use a demuxing program for editing – ARGH! feels so high maintenance to have that extra step… (and I don’t even know what the word demux means) AND other than this issue (OK, it’s a big issue of editing.) I really do like my current set-up.

I was about half-way into my run when I started thinking about the very first photography class that I had when I was 12 years old…

I had borrowed my dad’s old Leica camera and had hit the cliffs of Santa Monica and the Santa Monica Pier to take pictures of old people and after hours of taking pictures I was excited to get into the schools darkroom the next day to develop the film.

The following day as I hung-up the eagerly anticipated film in the purple light of the darkroom I saw that there was no images except for this one that I dug out of my art portfolio this morning.

You know, as I’m writing this I realized that I’m going to download Squared 5 and give demuxing a shot for my next “Where Are You Going?” video blog post, because unlike when I was 12 years old taking pictures for my photography class, it’s now 30 years later and if I make a mistake I have ways to back up my content. Steve thanks for the demux tip!
