Americans feel the love in win

(08-11) 04:00 PDT Beijing –

The U.S. men’s basketball team expected to win its opener against China on Sunday. What they didn’t expect was to get as much love as the home squad.

Kobe Bryant was treated like a rock star. LeBron James was king of the court. Dwyane Wade thrilled with his dunks.

From the pre-game lay-up lines to the final horn, the only time the Americans were jeered was when they were at the free-throw line. For one night – and likely for the rest of these Olympic Games – they were the adopted heroes in China rather than the villains from Athens. Read Full Story Here

I’ve had my own personal experience with heavy smog and really bad air quality and it’s not just from being a Los Angeles native…

I was in Bangkok, Thailand doing volunteer work and the commute to the location that I was volunteering took about four hours each day in heavy traffic — the smog was so think many times it was difficult to even see twenty cars ahead, or the tops of buildings.

I ended up getting a respiratory infection, lost my voice and I was coughing up stuff from my lungs that no person should ever be coughing up.

As the Olympics have now started I think it’s important to point out that all around the world major pollution problems exist, such as in: India, Dubai and Barcelona just to name a few.

Check this out. The World’s 10 Worst Cities
Arsenic-laced drinking water, lead-contaminated soils and choking air pollution are sadly just the start in some of the world’s dirtiest places from Popsci.com these ten pictures speak a thousand words.

Let Beijing be an eye-opener to all around the world that it’s everyone’s responsibility to regulate emissions and work to keep our water and land free of toxins as possible.

BEIJING, China (CNN) — Eight is a lucky number in China. The word for it — ba — sounds so close to the word for wealth that many people believe eight is a number that is linked to prosperity.

So it is no surprise that the opening ceremonies for the Olympic Games begin at 8:08:08 p.m. on 8/8/08. Read Full CNN Story Here.
